|Lipton Tea Rant
I've been drinking Lipton tea since I was a child, which is a very long time, about 50 years. Even though I've bought hundreds of boxes of other teas, herbal, black, green, all kinds of specialty teas, I've always come back to Lipton for a consistently good flavor for either hot or iced. I recently bought a box of 100 bags and was in for a huge shock and disappointment.
The problem is two fold. The biggest problem is the taste is completely different. Right out of the box it tastes cheap and no longer has the same flavor at all. It tastes like dust, like the tea is stale or some kind of lint combo instead of tea. I'm thinking WTF? This isn't the same tea at all. Seriously, I want my tea!!! And it's not just me. I've been reading online and there are hundreds of complaints about the same thing. Did they think they could pull such a switcheroo and no one would notice?
The second problem is the new packaging. The teabags are no longer individually wrapped in paper. I mean, my god, what the hell were they thinking??? They've got the naked, smaller bags lined up in 4 trays of 25 bags each that are foil wrapped. The foil isn't resealable. So, once you open it, you've got just a bunch of teabags. It's not sanitary. You have to handle the bag with your bare hands. Anybody could touch the bag before it's taken out to be used. Yuck. I used to put a few bags in my purse, and to do that now, I'd have to put them in plastic. Plus, once the foil is opened, since they're not wrapped individually, the tea isn't labeled, so if you use another kind like decaf, there's no way to tell. It's a big mess.
I don't mind drinking black tea hot, but I don't care for it iced.
So, anybody know of any tea that tastes like what Lipton used to taste like, a nice orange pekoe and black tea blend that's good for making iced tea? Current Mood: aggravated

When it's so bright that I have to wear sunglasses in my own living room in order to see the computer or the TV, it might be time for a new window treatment solution.
I hate to put up new blinds and I sure don't want to put up heavy curtains, but I know I have to do something before summer gets here. This brightness is blinding for about an hour and a half n the evening whenever we have a sunny day.
I have a big picture window that takes up most of the western wall. I've got mini blinds right now, but they're just not cutting it. Even shut completely, there's enough of a gap between each slat that it's painfully bright.
Any suggestions? Current Mood: discontent

Is it just me or is grocery shopping getting harder and harder? They move things around, hide the cheaper products, and have only a couple of check outs open when I just want to get out of there. It's such a chore, I really hate going. Current Mood: annoyed

Just got hammered with about 14 inches of snow in my backyard. Thirty minutes south they got 21 inches, so I guess I shouldn't complain. It's 14 days until spring. I can hardly wait!!!
The governor just declared a state of emergency. Fun times.
Here are some images I took standing in my back door. ( Way too much snow for me.Collapse )
I think I'm going to be home for a long while. As long as the power stays on, I'm okay with that. Current Mood: cold
